Prostate Cancer

What’s Prostate Cancer?

Prostate cancer is a cancer that develops in the prostate — a small walnut-shaped gland in the pelvis of men and can be scanned by getting a digital rectal assessment. It occurs when cells in the prostate gland start multiplying out of control. It is found only in men and is the most common types of cancer.

Generally prostate cancer grows gradually and is primarily limited to the prostate gland, where it may not cause grave damage but can spread to other areas of the body later. Once the cancer cells start to travel through blood vessels or lymph nodes and spread in other areas, the new tumor is as deviant as the original tumor and causes immense damage.

Men with an inflated prostate face a lot of problem while urinating as it can upset the flow of urine as well from the bladder. The growth can be benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer). Benign growth is not life threatening, can be eradicated, don’t attack the tissues around and don’t circulate to other parts of the body. Whereas Malignant growth can be life threatening, may spread to nearby tissues or organs, can circulate to other parts of the body as well and can be eradicated.
