What causes Swollen feet?

Swollen feet or ankle is a common problem in most people and not a cause of worry – particularly after standing or walking for long time. Although, it doesn’t signify a serious ailment but the symptoms could indicate an underlying health issues.  The inflammation can be caused due to accumulation of fluid in the feet, ankles and legs, the building up of fluid is referred to as Edema. Resting and Elevation of feet can reduce the swelling. 

                             

                                   

Sometimes the swelling is hardly visible and in few cases the feet looks like a balloon about to burst. The feet are the most used body part, they bear our weight throughout the day. Let us run, walk, jog, stand and various other activities. These actions can lead to a lot of wear and tear which causes swollen feet.  But if the swelling continues for a longer period of time and restricts your daily actions there can be some possible health concern which calls for doctors’ advice such as:
