Paget's Disease: Symptoms, and Treatment

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis and how to care for it?

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease. It presents itself as swelling, stiffness, and joint pain. Sometimes the symptoms occur gradually and sometimes they are abrupt where a person is fine a week ago and then within a week they struggle with their daily activities. They experience stiffness, pain in their joints, fatigue, and sleep disturbance. All these symptoms can be the beginning of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

If you are experiencing such symptoms, consult with your doctor.

What causes Rheumatoid Arthritis?

The factors responsible for Rheumatoid Arthritis are unknown. Researchers argue that it is influenced by a combination of genetics and environmental factors. There are risk factors that can’t be changed like:

Age: If you are between the age of 40 and 60 the chances of Rheumatoid Arthritis increases.

Family history: If a close relative in your family has Rheumatoid Arthritis, such as a parent of a sibling, increases the risk of the condition.

Gender: Studies have shown that women are more likely to develop Rheumatoid Arthritis than men.

If you have Rheumatoid Arthritis what you can do to ease the pain?

Exercise: With eating healthy, it is important to exercise daily. It can mean movement or simple exercise such as stretching.  When you are moving, you are making your joints and muscles around the joints stronger. It is important that the exercises you do, you do them safely and with the consultation of your doctor.

Have a healthy diet. What we eat defines our health. So, eat lots of vegetables and fruits with colors and grains. They provide all the nutrients that keep the body healthy. Avoid processed foods and colas.

Maintain a healthy weight: It is extremely important to keep your weight under check. Because, if you have stiffness, pain, and swelling in the knees, ankles, or hips and you add that extra weight, it will be harder for you to move.
