The step-by-step guide to how to register for the COVID-19 vaccination

India has started vaccinating its senior citizens and people with comorbidities on March 1, 2021.  Here is the step-by-step guide to how to register for the vaccination and what documents are required for it.

How to Register for COVID-19 Vaccination?

There are two ways to register. You can either log in to the website www.cowin.gov.in or you can use Aarogya Setu App.

Once you are on the website, click on the register yourself button. You then will have to fill in your mobile number and wait for an OTP, but that in, and the login is done.

Then the website will take you to a page that will ask for your basic details like Name, Govt. proof ID, gender, etc. This is all which is needed for senior citizens.

For those with comorbidities: there is an extra section that requires you to upload some necessary certificates.

Next is the turn for appointments. The page will ask you to fill in your state, city, and pin-code. Once you put these in, options for vaccination centers will appear. All you need to do is pick a center and the slot. Then an appointment successful page will appear and you are done.

Take its printout and carry it to the center along with the Govt. approved ID when it’s your turn. The confirmation will also come to your mobile when you are done with the appointment.

Appointments will open from 9 AM till 3 PM every day.

As for the second dose, you will be automatically notified of your next appointment after 28 days on your phone. In case you are traveling and want to change the details, you can do that too on the website.

For those who are not familiar with the website or the app

You can ask someone to fill in your details with theirs as an additional applicant. They can add up to 4 applicants in total.

If this option doesn’t work for you. You can go to your nearby hospital where vaccination is being done. You can go to their help desk and ask them to register you for the vaccination.

You must take your ID and all the other documents with you that show your age, medical certificates that define you as 45 of age or above as a person with comorbidities.

How to know if you are 45 to 59 of age with comorbidities eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination.

You can look at the following list to check if you qualify for the Covid-19 vaccination.

These are the 20 illnesses that Govt. has mentioned. Tick the ones you fall under. You need to take the downloaded version of it. Take that to a doctor, get it signed and authenticate that you are indeed eligible for the vaccination. And then upload it on the website.
