It largely affects males between the ages of 20 to 40 and those with HIV are at high risk of Reactive arthritis.

What are the symptoms of Reactive arthritis? 

Painful urination is one of the main symptoms of reactive arthritis. If there is inflammation in the urethra. Diarrhea can occur if the intestines are affected. 

Pain and stiffness in knees, ankles and feet, heels, and lower back. 

Eye inflammation, swollen toes, and fingers can occur in people with reactive arthritis.

Skin problems can occur as a rash on soles and palms, mouth ulcers, etc.

What causes reactive arthritis? 

Reactive arthritis and its causes occur as a reaction to an infection in the body, often in the intestines, genitals, and urinary tract. You might not be aware of it if the symptoms are mild or don’t show up at all. Numerous bacteria can cause Reactive arthritis, some are sexually transmitted while some are foodborne. It is not contagious. However, the bacteria can be transmitted sexually and through contaminated food.  

What treatments are available for Reactive arthritis?
