Male Infertility

Infertility is defined clinically in women and men who are not able to conceive despite having frequent sex without conception for at least 1 year. In simple words a women can’t get pregnant. There can be many factors and reasons responsible behind an infertility problem and every case is different depending upon an individual case or—in some cases—no identifiable cause.  In about one third of these couples, male infertility also plays an important role. When a male is not able to cause pregnancy in a fertile female it is referred to as Male infertility.

 

Although it is quite impossible for a men to notice the symptoms in the beginning other than the incapability to conceive a child, but there are few signs and symptoms linked with male infertility which include:

  • Lack of interest in sex
  • Difficulty maintaining an erection
  • Problem with ejaculation
  • Pain, Swelling or lump in your testicles
  • A lesser than normal sperm
  • Small, firm testicles
  • Change in hormones – decreased body or facial hair

Men should consult a doctor if they have:

  • Any prostate, testicular or sexual problem
  • A low sperm count
  • Gone through treatment for cancer
  • Someone in the family with infertility problems
  • A groin, testicle, penis or scrotum surgery or swelling in the scrotum
