What to feed your baby after 6 months of birth?

It can get a bit stressful and confusing for mothers when their babies turn 6 months old and they have to decide about the kind of food they can give to their young ones. There are certain foods which might affect adversely to your baby’s health hence you have to be very careful while feeding them. Here’s a list of safe food variants which is safe and healthy for your buttercups:

Cereals

Cereals are most important source of carbohydrates and are really important part of your child’s diet in the initial months. Grains should be boiled and soupy so that is easier to feed the baby and easier to digest as well. Rice is a great option to feed your baby as it is easy to feed and very less chances of being allergic.

Fruits

Fruits are a good source of vitamins as well as iron content. Fruits like banana, apple, peaches and pears are good options for infants but they should be mashed properly or else it may get stuck in their food pipe. Make sure to give them very small portion of these fruits or they might not be able to digest it properly.

Vegetables

Boiled veggies make another healthy choice when it comes to vitamins and minerals. Well boiled vegetables like potatoes, pumpkins, carrots, squash and sweet potato. It can be given in combination with rice or can be made as soup to make it a bit interesting for your baby.

Dairy

Proteins are very essential for growth and development of kids. Dairy products such as milk and curd are great preference for kids. Again adding mashed fruits in milk and curd is a good idea. It is not just hassle free but also healthier.

Other foods

There are a number of foods which can be fed to your baby. Lentils or dal can be added in rice as it is loaded with proteins, micro and macronutrients. Other than this, quinoa is loaded with innumerable nutritional value and is also gluten free. Porridge can be introduced to kids which can be made with quinoa, wheat or oats and is both healthful and appealing.
Remember that your child has just begun with the diet, don’t feed him big portions of food as he isn’t used to it yet. Also, take special care of the hygiene conditions as well.
If your child shows aversion to food completely, you shouldn’t ignore it. Take him/her to an experienced paediatrician for consultation and act accordingly.
