How to boost your child’s stunted growth

There’s a certain age until your children can gain height. It is also true that around 60-80% of people gain only as much height as they get genetically. But even when the genes are supportive, some children fail to grow as per their age and as a result have to deal with short height throughout the age.

Parents should notice if their children aren’t growing as much as their peers. To ensure that their height is growing as expected, the following steps should be followed:

  • Make sure that you are feeding a balanced diet to your child. Too much junk food not only stunts growth but also makes your child obese.
  • The right amount of sleep is also necessary as some of the growth hormones work while the body is at rest.
  • Staying active is as much important. Engage your child in sports like badminton, basketball, etc. Activities like skipping, athletics, etc. should also be encouraged.

While these should work for a normal kid, some might need extra attention. If you notice your child isn’t growing with his age, consult a specialist child doctor so that they can recommend some supplements along with a proper diet.

Some kids might also need hormone therapy to boost their growth. To know more about such treatments, book an appointment with Bansal Global Hospital.
