When to worry about weak bones?

Few posts earlier, we talked about how osteoporosis is an epidemic and the end isn’t anywhere near. In this post, we will discuss what can be done about it at a personal level. We have Dr Suresh Bansal with us to answer our queries.

We asked Dr Bansal about the age when one should start worrying about weak bones. As per him, we should start caring about strong bones rather than worrying about weak bones. This care starts from childhood and it is never too late to start.

If you are thirty-plus, you need to be extra careful, says Dr Suresh Bansal, leading orthopaedic doctor of Delhi NCR. This is when your bone health starts deteriorating. You won’t notice it until much later. So, make sure your intake of calcium and iron is sufficient. A regular trip to the doctor to keep your bone density in check is also recommended.

Osteoporosis is not the only thing that you can get. Weak bones are a reason for so many ailments and can make you almost handicap in the later stages of your life. So, if you experience regular pain in joints or bones, early treatment is strictly recommended.

If the situation worsens, there is no way out except for surgeries like hip or knee replacement surgery. In some cases, even that is not possible.

If you are also doubtful about your bone health, book an appointment with us and pave a way to a healthier, more mobile life. You can contact our helpdesk directly or leave us a query here.
